Wer kann einen Zuschuss beantragen?/Who can apply for a grant?
Der Zuschuss kann von allen Studierenden beantragt werden, welche zum Zeitpunkt der Antragstellung an einer staatlichen oder staatlich anerkannten Hochschule innerhalb Deutschlands immatrikuliert sind. Beurlaubte Studierende können keinen Antrag auf Zuschuss stellen. Studierende können den Antrag aus dem In- oder Ausland stellen.
All students can apply for a grant, as long as they’re enrolled in a state or state-approved University inside of Germany during the time of application. Students who are on a holiday semester cannot apply. You can send in your application from inside Germany, or from outside its borders, it doesn’t matter.
Wie viel Geld kann beantragt werden?/How much money can I apply for?
Der Zuschuss umfasst eine Summe von 100 Euro bis 500 Euro im Juli und August 2020. Die Höhe richtet sich nachdem Kontostand des Vortages bei der Antragstellung. Der Antrag muss jeden Monat neu gestellt werden.
The grant has a sum between 100€ and 500€ during Juli and August. The amount depends on your bank balance one day before application. The application needs to be re-entered every month.
Welche Dokumente werden benötigt/Which documents are needed?
- Immatrikulationsbescheinigung
- Personalausweis (Reisepass, Meldebescheinigung)
- Bankverbindung in Deutschland
- Belege der Notlage (z.B. Kündigungsschreiben Job)
- Kontostand vom Vortag
- Kontoauszüge der letzten Wochen
- confirmation of enrollment
- identity card (Visa, registration card)
- German Bank account
- Certification of financial distress (e.g. notice of termination)
- Bank balance from the prior day
- bank statements of the last weeks
Gibt es eine Frist zur Beantragung?/Is there a deadline for the application?
Der Antrag kann bis zum letzten Tag des laufenden Monats gestellt werden. Achtung: Es gibt keine Gewährleistung für die Überbrückungshilfe, sodass eine schnelle Antragstellung sinnvoll ist.
The application can be submitted until the last day of the current month. Attention: There is no guarantee that you will get the grant, so the earlier you apply for it, the better.
Wo kann ich den Antrag stellen?/Where can I apply?
Die Überbrückungshilfe für Studierende in Notlage ist ein Angebot des Studierendenwerks. Am besten schaut ihr ebenfalls auf deren Website einmal nach. Der Antrag kann seit dem 16.06.2020 online hier auf der Seite Überbrückungshilfe für Studierende gestellt werden. Der Antrag wird für Bremer Studierende vom Bremer Studierendenwerk bearbeitet, hier bekommt hier weitere Informationen. Achtung: das Studierendenwerk und der AStA arbeiten unabhängig von einander.

Since the 16.06.2020 you can apply online here, on the website of the Überbrückungshilfe for students. For students from Bremen the applications are handled by the „Studierendenwerk Bremen“, you can find additional information concerning them here. Attention: The Studentenwerk and the AStA work independently of each other.
Wann bekomme ich das Geld ausgezahlt?/When will I get the grant?
Die Anträge werden laut dem Deutschen Studierendenwerk ab dem 25.06.2020 bearbeitet. Nach einer Zusage soll nach einer Woche mit der Auszahlung des Zuschusses gerechnet werden können. Das heißt konkret: frühestens Anfang Juli.
The „Studierendenwerk Bremen“ says, that they will start working on the applications on the 25.06.2020. Approximately one week after the confirmation that you will get the grant, it should be on your bank account. That means the earliest time it can arrive is the begining of Juli.
Zählt der Zuschuss als Einkommen beim BAFöG?/Does the grant count as extra income for BAFöG?
Nein, für bezuschusste Studierende entsteht kein Nachteil bei einer gleichzeitigen BAFöG-Förderung.
No, students that got the grant and are receiving BAFöG don’t get any penalties.
